Talented Conatus Filly Walks the Line

23 December 2010

Brilliant 3YO Conatus filly, I Walk the Line (by Conatus out of the Timber Country mare, Country Step) has ended her successful 7 run preparation in by winning 2 city meetings (at Rosehill in Sydney and Doomben in Queensland) and placing 2nd in Wyong and is now spelling in her paddock back in NSW. Beating a field of 8 in a $50,000 3YO Hcp over 2020m and partnered by jockey, Larry Cassidy – I Walk the Line showed breath taking acceleration to beat her opposition by 5.5 lengths at Doomben on Saturday 18th December.

This brings her career statistics to 8 starts: 2:1:1 and her trainer, Pat Webster is quietly excited.

“It takes a lot to get me excited and with any horse you have to take every day with them, but I am quietly excited with her”. Pat said. “She has always showed me something and I do like her, the trick is to get the key to the horses that you have so that you can then work with them – not against them”.

Where to now for this talented filly? After a well earned rest she will be possibly headed towards the Queensland Oaks during the Winter Carnival. A good reason to get excited.

You cannot love a car the way you do a horse. The horse brings out human feelings the way machines cannot do. Things like machines may develop or neglect things in people…. machines make our life impersonal and stultify elements in us and create an impersonal environment.
