Spreading the Joy around

21 September 2005

They just keep on coming!

Last Saturday unveiled yet another fabulous filly from the Baramul Stud bandwagon the exciting filly Presenting, who stepped firmly up into the spotlight when she won The Lindsay Park Guineas (1600) at Morphettville.

Presenting has the kind of pedigree that makes breeding buffs a little dizzy: by super-sire (and son of Danehill) Redoutes Choice from Christmas Spirit.

This makes Presenting a half-sister to Light Up the World (dam of Conatus (by Danehill) and also half-sister to Joy, the dam of Gr.1 winnner, Thorn Park.

Presenting’s dam Christmas Spirit (a grand-daughter of Denises’ Joy) is by Bletchingly, which shows the Danehill / Bletchingly affiliation kicking in once again.

If you are keeping tally of just how many exceptional fillies on the track at the moment are owned by Baramul Stud (owned by Conatus’s breeder and major part-owner Mr Gerry Harvey) here’s just a few of them: Lotteria, Nevis and Presenting (all home bred) Then there¹s Fashions Afield (owned in partnership with John Singleton) plus an entire junior string of Prom Queen’s still waiting in the wings.

Given the quality of the 30 young mares bred by Baramul Stud to Conatus last season and the delighted reaction to his first foals on the ground it seems like the excitement is only just beginning.

Henceforth the mares demand the greater care. When in the course of the months they are in foal. Allow them not to gallop in the swirling floods, But let them graze in the glades by brimming streams.
