Comments

We’ve been breeding colts for a long time and we believe that Nonda Sting is one of the greats. He is a wonderful colt in every sense: correct, attractive and sound. He simply flows when he moves, has a wonderful, trainable mind and a pedigree that is extraordinary.

Nonda Sting combines most of the great stallions who have influenced the Australian campdrafting and challenge industries for the last 30 years.

Take a look at them: Conman, the current superstar of the campdraft industry and his grandsire Elliots Creek Cadet and Warrenbri Romeo. And then there are the super-sires on his dams side: Doc’s Freckles Oak, regarded as one of the greatest sires of modern times, the great Star Black Minstrel, who re-wrote the record books, and some of the great sires from the past like Young Valais, who had such a profound influence in his day..

Then there are the mares in his family: he combines Hazelwood Romance, considered one of the greatest campdrafters of modern times with his dam Midnight Boogie’s own famous female family, the Widden Lass family. This family was created by the Haydon family and later developed by the extraordinary master breeder Ventry McLennen through his mares Bangle and Bracelet.

Heather Pascoe “If I was looking for a serious colt to challenge, draft and stand at stud, I would buy Sting, simple as that. He has everything it takes to make a great Australian performer and a great Australian sire. I look forward to working with him every day, and I love just sitting back and watching him play in a paddock in the afternoon. It makes for a very good day” – Heather Pascoe

Dam

First Dam

Nonda Midnight Boogie (Docs Freckles Oak – Yarranoo Ragtime)

Midnight Boogies is a world class mare with quality, pedigree and a performance record.

She has won campdrafts for Christine Hall where she proved a lovely ladies mare. Her first foal – a colt by Dogwood Comet – was sold to a client of Terry and Christine Hall and is showing enormous ability. Nonda Midnight Boogie is a half sister to Nonda Bebopalooopa (played by Charlie Brooks) , Australian Polocrosse Horse of the Year and a mare widely regarded as one of the greats. She is a member of the famous Widden Lass family. Widden Lass was a champion campdrafter owned by the Haydon family back in the 1930’s. Her bloodlines were kept by the Haydon Family until they were later purchased by legendary breeder Ventry Mclennen around the 1960’s. The family was developed further by Nonda when they purchased a number of young mares in 1983.

This mare is delightful to handle, an easy breeder and a great mother.

Second Dam

Yarranoo Ragtime

One of the loveliest daughters of Star Black Minstrel purchased as a 2YO by Nonda to use as an outcross for their own bloodlines. Yarranoo Ragtime produced Nonda Bebopaloola (Native Son) who was Champion Polocrosse Horse ofAustralia (ridden by Charlie Brooks). Yarranoo Ragtime was from Yarranoo Charm, who was by Yaranoo Glencoe, a son of the great stockhorse Foundation Mare, Glenna.

Yarranoo Charm was from Yarranoo Bangles (ASHS Foundation mare) , a granddaughter of the champion campdrafter of the 1930s and early 1940s, Widden Lass, who was owned and ridden by the Haydon family.
