Nonda Massage is a brown 2YO filly by Nonda Swag (draft winner and full brother to Warwick Gold Cup winner Let’s Talk Later) from Nonda Swoon (Doc’s Freckles Oak) a grand daughter of the great Star Carousel, winner of the legendary Cloncurry Stockmen’s Challenge. This filly combines the pedigrees of two superstar mares and has everything it takes to make it to the top. This is your opportunity to buy a filly from two of the finest mare families in Australia. Will halter, draft, challenge, show or futurity.
“This is a delightful filly. She is around 14.1 hh, and I think she would suit a youth or a smaller rider with plenty of camp drafting experience. She has been broken in and ridden for three weeks before she was sent out for a spell. She is very soft and kind, a real sweetie, and the team at Finch Farm told me she always wanted to “get down and boogie” and work the lead pony like a cow. She is very quick and light on her feet and she watches everything with the intensity of a really top cattle horse.”
This horse was started at Finch Farm, owned by David Finch. David is currently EFA Coach of the Year, and his protegee Robert Moffart – who starts and rides all the young horses – is a World Cup Showjumper. He grew up on a property in the Qld bush, won the Brisbane Exhibition World Cup in 2007 as well as numerous Grand Prix wins at major shows across Australia. While Roberts sights are set on the Olympics, he is also a full time trainer of performance horses for a wide number of disciplines.
“She is very smart on her feet, really tuned in and responsive. She is very easy to do anything with, a really good natured mare. She is straight and naturally balanced for a young horse. I think she’ll suit what she’s bred for, drafting and that. She feels like a horse that wants to work cattle.”

- Won first round Winton Novice, also won cut out, Won Allora Novice. 2nd Brunette Downs Novice ridden by Terry Hall,

Dam
First Dam
Nonda Swoon
This is a particularly beautiful daughter of Doc’s Freckles Oak. She is very feminine, attractive and correct. A number of good judges have described her as a copybook broodmare in every sense. She has produced a number of outstanding foals since she went to stud.
Second Dam
Nonda Songlines
A big upstanding mare by Doc’s Boab, full brother to Doc’s Spinifex. Produced Nonda Swoon in a very limited career at stud.
Third Dam
Star Carousel
Ian Francis, champion trainer of Australia and one of the greatest all-round horsemen in our history (he has won won multiple NCHA Futurities and Derbies, multiple NRHA Futuries and Derbies, multiple Cloncurry Stockmen’s Challenges, etc), still considers Star Carousel to be one of the very best horses he ever rode. She won Champion Led ASHS Filly at Brisbane Royal as a 2YO, won the Moonbi Cowhorse Futurity as a 3YO and the famous Cloncurry Stockmans Challenge as a 4YO. She was retired to stud after the win and later produced a number of outstanding colts, including Nonda Yothu Yindi, winner of the Stallion Draft at the ASHS Nationals, etc.
Star Carousel was also a sister to Bruce McNaughtons Music, making this one of the most celebrated camp draft families in Australia.
Fourth Dam
Glenna’s Daughter
Glenna’s Daughter, legendary broodmare bred by the great master breeder, Mr Ventry McClennen. She was the dam of such champions of the breed as Bruce McNaughtons campdrafter Music and the champion mare Carousel (ridden by Ian Francis) winner of the Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge, Moonbi Cowhorse Futurity.
Fifth Dam
Glenna
This remarkable mare bred by Ventry McClennan, produced her own dynasty of champion horses including Maxine Brooks’ Yarranoo Dark Glen and others. Her daughter, Glenna’s Daughter, produced Bruce McNaughton brilliant campdrafter Music and Star Carousel, winner of the Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge. Glenna has been nominated by the ASHS as a major Foundation Mare.
