The win of Wullkuraka in a 1666m maiden at Ipswich (Saturday 5 Jan 2008) continued the current red-hot run of winners for Sunday Knight.
Wullkuraka (Sunday Knight – Raise a Princess) was bred by Queensland breeder Graham Sue, who has been a strong supporter of Sunday Knight from his first season at stud.
Graham’s mare Raise a Princess provided a close- up duplication in her mating with Sunday Knight, since her sire Surmise (Alleged – Beach Gown) is also a son of the great race mare Beach Gown, the dam of Sunday Knight
The figures for Sunday Knights first crop of 3YO are remarkable: 31 per cent winners to runners. Furthermore, no less than 13 of his 16 starters have been money earners – a staggering 81%.
He has only one 2YO starter to date – the cleverly named Sundaytoofaraway (Brandon Dove) who is trained in Cairns by Fred Wieland. She has had two starts in Townsville for a third placing.
