Dance In The Mood (JPN) notched her second victory at the highest level when she raced away with the inaugural running of the Victoria Mile-JPNGr.1 (1600m) at Tokyo Racecourse last weekend.
After being well back in the initial stages Dance In The Mood, who jumped from the No.1 starting gate, was brought through the field by jockey Hiroshi Kitamura to be just behind the leaders at the 600m.
Kitamura then speared her between runners on straightening up to reach the lead approaching the 300m mark.
She continued on strongly from there to defeat Air Messiah, who finished powerfully in the middle of the track, by 1.25 lengths.
Dia De La Novia completed a trifecta for champion sire Sunday Silence (USA) by snatching third placing from Cosmo Marvelous in the last stride.
A five-year-old from the Nijinsky mare Dancing Key Dance In The Mood has now registered five wins, three seconds and a third for prizewinnings of more than the equivalent of $A5.2m.
Her most important success previously had been in the Hanshin Oka Sho-Japanese 1000 Guineas-Gr.1 (1600m) while her four Gr.1 placings feature a second in the Hollywood Park American Oaks.
