Ross Price New Trainer For Marunouchi
Marty Young - Perth Racing - 28 August 2008
Exciting short course specialist Marunouchi has been transferred to the Capel stables of Ross Price, after his former trainer Phil Grantham announced his withdrawal from training on a large scale.
Marunouchi is owned by Gary Brown, who works and resides in the UK, so the decision to find the right trainer didn’t come easy.
“After a great deal of consideration I decided the rural and beachside environment of Ross Prices Capel stable would suit Marunouchi best.” Brown said from London today.
“I gave him a cold call and asked Ross if he would consider training Marunouchi and thankfully he agreed. Ross has such a great record with all types of horses.”
“Marunouchi has been spelling at Evergreen Lodge Myalup since April. He needed a good spell as his first preparation had been quiet long, from December 07 to April 08, albeit his races were well spaced, resulting in four wins from six starts.”
“The expectations are for him to be taken along quietly and hopefully he will measure up to some of the good sprint races over the Summer Carnival.”
Marunouchi is a four year old entire by Sunday Knight, a sire that is in hot form at the moment, producing eight winners from his past 16 starters.
Brown has a full brother to Marunouchi that has just arrived in West Australia.
“His full brother has arrived from Plaintree Farms Stud in Toowoomba and looks fantastic. He is being agisted at Heytesbury Stud and appears more forward than Marunouchi at the same stage of their careers.”
“All things being equal, we may prepare him for the autumn 2 year old races.”
Flower Dancer the dam of Marunouchi is again in foal to Sunday Knight and is due to foal in October.
