Sunday Silence horse Sunday Knight posted his first winner at the Gold Coast on Saturday when two year-old gelding Punch Up won on debut.

Trained at the Gold Coast by Peter Balzen, Punch Up was well fancied and kicked right away to win by two and a half lengths in the juvenile maiden over 1300 metres.

Purchased by Balzen for just $10,000 from the draft of Couzinz at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale from Session Seven, Punch Up is the second foal of the unraced Geiger Counter (USA) mare School Blue.

From the Sadler’s Wells mare Blue Feather (IRE), School Blue comes from the family of European Group One winner and sire Bigstone (IRE).

Punch Up is the first winner for Sunday Knight who stands at Plaintree Farm in Queensland at a fee of $4,400.

Retired unraced, Sunday Knight was an $800,000 Easter yearling in 2001, conceived in Japan by Sunday Silence from the Group One winning Bletchingly mare Wrap Around.
